A day with a postpartum doula can involve many different things. It may focus on breastfeeding questions and answers, along with extra guidance on positioning, latch, and normal newborn feeding patterns. Time can be spent teaching mom and dad soothing and swaddling techniques or safe babywearing along with hands-on practice using our various baby carriers. Some days mom just needs a nap and a nice long shower while an extra set of hands cares for the baby. Other days, a postpartum doula is there to run errands, spend time with older siblings, or prepare a healthy meal for the whole family. Some days, postpartum care involves all of these things.

Contact us today and let's plan a postpartum time that involves:

  • Newborn care and education
  • New mother care and postpartum recovery, both physical and emotional
  • Breastfeeding and/or bottle-feeding support
  • Support during unique postpartum challenges such as colic/reflux, birth of multiples, or postpartum mood disorders
  • Babywearing options and techniques
  • Meal preparation and planning and light household tasks
  • Sibling-related care
  • Education resources and referrals

Research tells us that families with support have greater success breastfeeding, greater self-confidence as new parents, and reduced risk of postpartum depression and other mood disorders. Motherline would love to provide that support for your family! We are committed to helping moms recover from birth, parents confidently care for baby, and new families build the bonds of love.

More and more women are discovering the benefits of placenta encapsulation. Women who consume their placentas often report improved postpartum mood, increased milk supply, a faster postpartum recovery, and an overall better balancing of hormones following birth.

Motherline offers the Traditional Method of Encapsulation, a method that involves steaming the placenta with lemon and ginger, dehydrating completely, and then grinding into powder form so the placenta can be encapsulated. We pride ourselves in offering the highest safety standards for placenta encapsulation and only process placentas in our clients' homes. You can be confident that you are consuming your placenta and that it was prepared in an environment that meets your safety standards.

While your postpartum placenta specialist is in your home, you will also receive any support that you may need as you settle in to your postpartum recovery. We are happy to straighten up the kitchen, answer any breastfeeding questions you may have, or just sit and listen as you share your birth story.

Our clients receive:

  • A transport kit that meets WHO safety guidelines
  • Instructions for transporting and storing your placenta
  • Placenta encapsulation in the safety and comfort of their own home
  • 75-150 placenta pills as well as detailed consumption guidelines and all questions answered

Contact us today to learn more about the benefits of placenta encapsulation and how this process can aide your postpartum recovery.

The benefits of ingesting your placenta have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

Self care in the postpartum period is so important for physical and mental health and this is why more postpartum women are exploring the act of belly binding. Historically, there have been numerous rituals surrounding the postpartum period, many of which included some form of abdominal wrapping after birth. Belly binding has several potential benefits, including pulling in separated abdominal muscles, encouraging a faster return to pre-pregnancy placement of muscles and organs, slimming of the ribcage, belly, and hips, and a generally more secure core feeling during the early postpartum days.

Motherline is proud to offer belly binding services to mothers in the Triangle area. Our belly binding package includes:

  • One plain, muslin binder
  •  The actual binding of client's abdominal region
  • Demonstrating and teaching the binding technique to a support person
  • A mini-postpartum session to answer basic postpartum questions pertaining to newborn care, physical recovery, and breastfeeding support, along with referrals to other professionals if requested
